Actually Mary didn't try and murder her at first. Mary was Elizabeth half sister, and her husband was a nephew of King Henry VII, making Mary the rightfull heir of the throne. She was queen of the Scots at the time of the offer. So elizabeth took the throne. After Mary cheated on her husband, married another then murder him she was going to be kicked of the throne and murdered. She posed as a man and fled Scotland. She went to England to get the throne back. But when the Queen heard of this is knew that the Catholics would uprise (since Mary would bring Cathoicism back) and murder her. She had Mary improsined at once. The cathoics tried to break Mary free but the Queen moved her before they could. Now to answer your question...some officers got ahold of some letters Mary was writting to people they saw her plotting and were going to try her for treason. The queen didn't want to put her half sister to dealth and procrastanatied siging the papers...so she never did..and Parliament excuted Mary with out her concent.....................
