Hope was a mere fifteen when World War One ended.

He was 33 years old, married, and had four children when the U.S. joined into World War Two. Like many people in those circumstances at that time, he chose not to join the military. This was not at all unusual.

Cary Grant was born in 1904, and it is thus no surprise he was never drafted in either the U.K. or the U.S. -- he became a citizen of the latter in 1942.
