Mostly because the Artist drawing those cartoon characters didn't mind if his people were missing a finger. So it's more of a fake person. Technically it's a careless artist who finds that the show is more important than the actual characters. But, when cartoons have 4 fingers NOT 5 it's NOT an accident!
The reason is, so that children and adults see the characters as not human, and to not try those antics at home. It is a precaution at separating reality from fantasy, which is a must when viewing the real world as apposed to a cartoon world. Good day!
