Why do people like Robert Pattinson?

At first, the director had chosen Henry Cavill to be Edward in the movie 'Twilight' and the other movies that go along with it, but unfortunately, Henry was 24, and couldn't realistically play the role of Edward. On the website, the director asked fans to vote and choose stars who would be suitable for the role. Robert was one of them, as was Orlando Bloom, and others. The director looked over who the fans ahd chosen, chose the finalists out of the main ten the fans had chosen, and thought Robert would be the best suited actor.

When Catherine Hardwicke was holding auditions for the role of Edward, she had already chosen Kristen Stewart as Bella. Hardwicke got one of the scenes from the script, and got each shortlisted actor to run through it with Kristen. Hardwicke thougth that Robert and Kristen shared the most chemistry; she ran the pairing through with Stephenie Meyer, the producers, etc, and Robert was Edward. Simple.
