You are not supposed to question it! That is what makes up the show! unkown things like that! it is the fact that cats normally eat birds, especially the small ones. It might also be because of the fact that Tweety is always protected by that cage, and that syl (short for Sylvester) thinks that he deserves better than that cat food. I also think that the reason why he spits when he talks is that he is always salivating over Tweety and it interferes with his speech.

The final episode of 'Sylvester and Tweety Mysteries' is called 'This is the End'. Sylvester does indeed catch and eat Tweety- adding, with a burp, 'That 'star' could've used some salt!' (ha-ha) As a life-long Tweety hater I'm almost ashamed to admit that I did get great satisfaction from watching this! Of course the whole thing turns out to be a dream but I guess that's as close as it ever got.
