Because she is not sure what his game plan is, if he wants to kill her or not, so in order to be able to kill him in the arena if need be, she won't feel too bad about it because she would not have gotten close to him.
In the first book? Because she knows that only one person can win the Games and she doesn't want to get too attached to Peeta for she knows that would only make it more difficult for her to deal with it
Because he joined the careers

Read the books! Or wait for the film. I'm not giving away internet spoilers. I will give you this one, though. yes, they do.
It was described in the book. After the death of her father, Katniss's mother was so devastated she zoned out into a nonresponsive depressed state, leaving an eleven-year-old Katniss all by herself to try and fend for herself as well as her mother and 7-year-old sister Prim. She dug through the trash cans at the bakery where Peeta's family worked to look for food, but was shooed away by Mrs. Mellark. Peeta saw this and, as an act of kindness, purposely burned two loaves of bread, knowing that his mother would make him feed the loaves to their pigs. But he didn't anticipate the blow to the head he would get. Then the next day at school, Peeta showed Katniss the first dandelion of the year, which Katniss interpreted as a symbol that she is not alone
Peeta runs out of the trees and tells her that Cato is after her and is going to kill her. Peeta tells Katniss to run away.
There are many reasons Peeta Mellark is Courageous in The Hunger Games. 1). He sacrificed his safety and life for Katniss. (Ex. When he agreed to hunt for her with the Careers, he knew where she was because they had the same stratagies, therefore he led them away from her.) 2). He was determined to stay himself (Remain Sane) no matter what the consequences. (Ex. He told Katniss on the roof of the Training Center that he wanted to 'Die as Himself') 3). He would rather die than kill Katniss. (Ex. He agreed to eat the berries at the end, and almost did.) There are other reasons , but they come later in the series:) Hope it helped ! You'll Love the rest of the series !

If they ran towards, they would be in the middle of the blood bath. Very few people make it out of the blood bath alive.
Because since he's a constant drunk (it's his only way to wash away the memories of when he won the Hunger Games) and they kept trying to get him to do his job as being a mentor to them.
