There are two answers to this. Since this is fiction and takes place in a fictional world, there isn't any date you would recognize.
That said, the setting occurred in the years 2941 and 2942 of the Third Age, or 1341 and 1342 of the Shire Reckoning.
The Hobbit is fairly linear. There are a few places where the time line backs up, particularly when the dwarves and Bilbo are exploring Smaug's den and Smaug is attacking Laketown.
