It is known for its Hippy era. In the 60's, beatniks moved there looking for cheaper rent. Famous tenants are Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, and Jefferson Starship. Filled with old Victorian Homes that are now stores and surrounded by parks, it was the place that hippies migrated too.
