Well, if Harry Potter had died the night Voldemort tried to kill him, Voldemort wouldn't care. It would just be another normal murder. But when Harry survived, Voldemort was defeated. Harry was the one who made Voldemort disappear for so long. Now Harry gets praise because he defeated Voldemort. Now Voldemort wants to kill Harry because he wants to show that Harry Potter is no better then him. Voldemort is better than Harry. That's why Voldemort hat Harry. Sorry it's so long.

Actually, there was a prophecy that said that a baby born in the end of June would defeat him. Voldemort could have chosen Neville Longbottom but he chose Harry instead. So then, Voldemort tried tokill Harry but Harry didn't die because his mother protected him with the strongest magic, love.
