The red zone in RPM (Revolutions Per Minute) indicates that an engine is operating at high RPMs, which can lead to excessive wear and tear on engine components. Prolonged operation in this zone can result in overheating, increased fuel consumption, and potential engine damage. Additionally, it may cause premature failure of parts like the valves, pistons, and bearings, ultimately shortening the vehicle's lifespan. Therefore, it's crucial to keep RPM within the manufacturer's recommended range for optimal performance and longevity.

It depends how high you're talking about. If you mean revving all the way to the red line then yes this is bad for the engine. But the rpm shouldn't exceed 4000 rpm. If it is slightly below this then it is fine.
