Donald first appeared in a cartoon called "The Wise Little Hen" in June of 1934, and in August of that year was in "The Orphan's Benefit." By 1940 he was well on his way to becoming a popular favorite, third only to Mickey Mouse and Warner Brothers' Bugs Bunny.
