Many religious Christians or people who believe in black magic and it being bad do not like the Harry Potter series as it is based on witch craft and is thought of to be satanic and sinful to read/learn about stuff to do with it
its not considered dangerous, its just considered not the best thing to read because it involves witch craft. i can honestly say that God would rather you be doing something better with yourself. like, I don't know, reading the bible/ praying.

Cotton Mather (1663-1728) was a New England Puritan minister, prolific author, and pamphleteer, known for his influential role in the early American colonies. He is perhaps best known for his involvement in the Salem witch trials, where he supported the trials but later expressed regret about the injustices that occurred. Mather wrote extensively on topics such as theology, medicine, and history, and his works contributed to the intellectual life of colonial America. His legacy is complex, as he is both celebrated for his contributions to early American thought and critiqued for his role in the witch trials.
One place where witchcraft was a terrible trap for some innocent women was in Salem, Massachusetts, where just anyone could accuse any woman of being a witch, which they tried to verify by throwing her into a body of water to see if she could sink, where she was damned if she did and damned if she didn't. One of the pastors who had a lot of fun with this was named Cotton Mather, who enjoyed persecuting so-called witches.
The Salem witch trials. Increase Mather was too smart and political knowlegdable to believe that there were witches.
Cotton Mather's book, "The Wonders of the Invisible World," fueled the Salem witch trials by promoting the idea of witchcraft. Dr. Grigg's opinion, as a prominent figure in Salem, validated the accusations of witchcraft, leading to more widespread fear and hysteria in the community, exacerbating the situation.

The Greek word for "Witch Craft" is "σκάφος μάγισσα".
Cotton Mather and Increase Mather, prominent Puritan ministers in colonial New England, argued for the integration of religion and governance, emphasizing the importance of a moral society guided by Christian values. They supported the idea of a theocratic society where civil authorities aligned with Puritan beliefs, advocating for the enforcement of religious conformity. Additionally, both Mather figures were influential in the Salem witch trials, promoting the prosecution of supposed witches as a means of preserving societal order and purity. Their work reflected a broader commitment to the spiritual and moral well-being of the community.
