Lucille did register as a Communist when she was younger to please her grandfather. Lucille never stated in her later years what her party preference was. She did however state that she was good friends with Ginger Rogers who was a staunch Republican and she did not like Ginger's politics.
She wasn't. In the 1930's she and a few other family members registered for the communist party in order to please her ailing grandfather and never gave a thought to it again. Contrary to what some gossip rags might have said, she never voted for the communist party nor did she ever attend any political meetings for them. In other words, that was the ONLY time in her life that she ever had any affiliation to the communist party. And if you don't believe me think about this: Her husband, Desi Arnaz, and his family had to flee Cuba in the 1930's because of the communist party when he was only 16. And I'm pretty sure that if someone you loved had to go through that, you would never want anything to do with the people who made that happen.
