Why weren't there other cyclopes on Polyphemus's island in The Sea of Monsters?

Odysseus tricked Polythemus by telling him that his name was "Nohbdy." When Polythemus shouted for help, he yelled "Help, NOHBDY has blinded me." When the other cyclopes heard that NOBODY had hurt him, they laughed and went back to their own business.

According to Homer's Odyssey, there were other cyclopes on the island with Polyphemus. After Polyphemus captures Odysseus and his men, Odysseus hatches a plan to blind Polyphemus and tells him that his name is "nobody". When the blinding occurs, the other cyclopes on the island ask Polyphemus, "Who is hurting you" and, thinking Odysseus's name is "nobody", Polyphemus replies "Nobody is hurting me." The other cyclopes on the island do not try to help Polyphemus, because he said that nobody was hurting him.

When they ask him who is hurting him, he says noman is hurting him. Noman was the name Odysseus gave him. They thought he meant no one was hurting him, so they went back to their homes. The Odyssey book 9.
