(WARNING- Spoilers ahead!!)
Well, in the 1st anime, Ed actually did bring back Al's body (as if you didn't know that already), but I have a gnawing feeling that he is going to get it back really, REALLY soon. When Izumi, Ed, and Al were teleported to "Father", Al's soul didn't make it through. Therefore, it must be by the gate and Al is going to be reunited with his body. Then, when (not if) Mustang opens the gate, Al will come down and whop everyone's ass.
In fma Al gets his body back while Ed stays the same. But in fmab (brotherhood). Al gets his body back and Ed gets is arm back but not his leg.
Yes he does in Brotherhood but also in the original. But in both Al only get's it back after Ed pays the price. **SPOILER** In the end, for Brotherhood, Al sacrifices his body so Ed can use his other arm to fight "Father". Ed turns down many things, such as a phlosiphers stone, and when he is about to give up he has the idea of giving up his alchemy for Al to come back in him body. Al ends up back in the real world with his body and Ed with his automail arm gone but still keeping his automail leg.
You mean FullMetal Alchemist? Well for the first series, Ed gets stuck in the real world with Al trying to find him again, though in the COS movie Al goes to the real world with him permanently. Unfortunately, Ed didn't get his body back though Al did. In Brotherhood Al gives up his life to get Ed's arm back, and Ed, in a rage, attacks Father until he eventually kills him, and then gives up alchemy to restore Al back to life. Ed did not get his leg back but he got his right arm back, and Al got his body back/
The result was Al (Alphonse Elric), Ed's (Edward Elric) little brother lost his entire body. While Ed himself lost one of his leg. In an attempt to save his little brother Al, Ed tried to bond Al's soul on a piece of armor. Ed had to lose his arm because of that. Al was left with no body, his soul was attached to the piece of armour, and Ed was fitted with an automail arm and leg by Winry and Pinako Rockbell.
Ed gets his arm back in the original FMA for a little while he is having the battle with envy. He gets his arm back since Al gives up his body in return for his arm. However, Ed looses his arm again when he brings Al back.
I wouldn't swear to it, but I think it's episode 50 or 51

Eventally, Al goes to Earth, too.In the manga and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Ed does not die. He comes close a few times, though.
