The relationship between Charles and Sebastian in "Brideshead Revisited" is complex and open to interpretation. While their deep emotional bond and intense friendship suggest a strong connection that could be seen as romantic, the text leaves their relationship ambiguous. Some readers view it as a platonic yet profoundly affectionate bond, while others see potential for a romantic love that remains unfulfilled. Ultimately, the nature of their relationship is left to the reader's interpretation.

Why do Charles and Cordelia supply Sebastian with alcohol in Brideshead Revisited?

Charles feels that Sebastian's free will has been taken away. As in the bible, God gave people free will so that they could have the choice to sin or not to sin, Lady Marchmaine does not offer Sebastian the choice of refraining from drinking. Even though it looks like they have made the wrong decision by letting him drink, they know that he would rather leave his family and friends, which he does anyway later on, than be without booze. Charles feels it would better for him to drink alcohol around people he knows rather than away in some strange place where his life could be in danger. Cordelia's motives are less obvious but I presume that she also thinks that her brother would be better getting drunk in the safety of Brideshead rather than in some dingy bar or side alley.

Why always lovers separated?

How does one become a lover if they have been in a state of unison. Lovers are not always separated if they have been together. If they are not together it is because they have chosen not to be together. Those reasons are between the lovers, no one else can understand.

Which is correct for a title. The lover's guide to Sydney or the lovers' guide to Sydney?

Wow! This is an interesting question and the answer doesn't seem nearly as clear as I suppose it should. I think either one works. The word lover's implies that this is a guide for a person who is a lover. The word lovers' implies that this is a guide for people who are lovers. One might expect titles like "The Gourmet's Guide to Restaurants in Providence", or "The Scholar's Guide to Boston Museums". The trick is that lovers do their thing with each other in a way that gourmets and scholars don't. And having been to Sydney, a beautiful and hopping town, I have a sense of what lovers would enjoy there. So, technically lover's might be the correct option, but my heart really wants lovers' to hold sway. If it were my choice, I would go with lovers'. Lover's would imply a single lover. Lovers' would imply more than one, i.e. people all over the world who are lovers.
