On June 30th MTV is bringing the '90s cult-horror classic "Scream" to the small screen. How is the "Scream" TV series similar and/or different to "Scream" the movie?

Our TV version of Scream is different from the movie by storyline. We have all new characters, and a new backstory/motive for our killer. It will be similar however in humor; it will wink at the audience and let them know that we are very self aware.

Were you a fan of the "Scream" film franchise prior to being cast in the TV series?

I had seen the original Scream movie fairly recently before being cast. I fell in love with the idea on the movie, so when I got the audition for Scream the series, I was so excited!

How do you think "Scream" will appeal to a new generation of viewers?

We are pulling in the new generation of viewers by speaking this generation's' language. Our high school culture is technology driven, and our characters are dealing with very modern problems.

Do you think the TV adaptation will appeal to fans of the original franchise, or is the reboot crafted for an entirely new demographic?

Absolutely, the series has just enough throwback moments to salute the originals, while also taking you on a brand new 'darker' journey as well.

Your character Will Belmont is an All-American high school basketball player and boyfriend to the show's main character Emma (Willa Fitzgerald). What else can you tell us about Will?

Will is also the son of a farmer; so he is very driven and focused on work as well as what he wants. This ties in with his feelings for Emma.

How would you describe Will and Emma's relationship?

Will and Emma's relationship is sweet. No matter what happens, they have a mutual sweetness and love for each other.

Will the killer in MTV's "Scream" wear the same Ghostface mask as the killer in the film?

The mask that our new killer wears is similar but still very different. We wanted to pay homage to the original ghost face, but the newer mask has a dark backstory, and will pull the story into a darker, scarier place.

Original "Scream" director Wes Craven returns in MTV's reboot as one of the show's exec producers. How involved is Wes Craven in the series? Have you had the opportunity to meet him?

Wes Craven has looked over the writer's ideas, and given us his blessing to keep moving forward. We feel very confident with his nod that the series is going to be something special.

Is there a specific scene or episode that you're excited for viewers to see?

Definitely as we move farther into the season. The episodes run so fast and dark, it's going to keep getting better and better.
