What were your thoughts on your role as Holly Herkimer when you first read the "Shameless" script?

When I first read the script, I thought it was absolutely hilarious. I just love how brazen Holly is with everything. She's so amoral and inappropriate, like it's all just so wrong, but to me, that's what makes it so great. It's so much fun to play her because of all of the outrageous situations she gets into--I always get excited to see what the writers have written for her.

Are you and Emma Kenny as close offset as your characters Debbie and Holly are onset?

Well, I wouldn't say Debbie and Holly are necessarily close, and being that Emma is one of my best friends, I'd say that Emma and I are definitely closer than Debbie and Holly.

What has been your favorite thing to wear while filming for "Shameless"?

Last season, I wore this one outfit that was all purple -- purple tights, purple, shorts, a somewhat purple floral top, and a purple fuzzy jacket. It was a pretty gaudy outfit, but it was something that Holly would totally wear, so I was into it.

You've accomplished a lot in your 16 years. How did your performance background in ballet, theatre and figure skating prepare you for acting in Hollywood?

Having all that performance background helped me realize how important it is to be persistent and to keep pushing myself to be the best I could possibly be. To me, that goes hand in hand with acting. It's a very tough industry to be in, as it takes a lot of hard work. And when faced with frequent rejection, instead of giving up, I just take it as a learning opportunity to try to better myself.

I think what makes "The Color of Time" different from other romantic-dramas is the fact that it's very real and raw.

What do you do for fun when you're not working?

In my free time, I'm usually hanging out with friends, at the movies, hiking, taking a yoga and/or dance class, at the Archery range, reading a new book, at the beach, finding new music, or volunteering for Best Friends Animal Society.

Why did you choose to get involved in the Best Friends Animal Society?

Best Friends Animal Society is an incredible organization. I heard about them through a few friends, and I thought the whole thing was absolutely amazing so I started volunteering with them right away. It's heartbreaking to know how much/what some of these animals have gone through in their lives, so it's one of the best feelings in the world when you help pair an animal with a loving home and family. And they're smart - they honestly know what's going on, like they know that they're finally going home. And that just makes me so happy.

Once, I was so hungry that I single handedly ordered and ate two large cheese pizzas.
