Princess Cruises kicked off their 50th anniversary celebration by reuniting "The Love Boat" cast in the 2015 Rose Parade. How long had it been since you'd seen the crew?

How long had it been since I had seen the rest of the Love Boat cast? We have seen each other over the years, but not as often as I would like. The good thing was we had all just taken a cruise together on Princess cruises in November to christen the gorgeous new Regal Princess. We couldn't wait to spend New Year's Eve together as a group. We have never done that before!

What was your experience like being in the 2015 Rose Parade?

Having the honor to be on the gorgeous Princess Cruises Rose Parade float was incredible! Gavin and I were sitting together kept looking at each other saying "just take this moment in." It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and one that will never forget!

What is the #1 thing you miss from your "Love Boat" days?

The number one thing I miss from my Love Boat days is spending time with my castmates. We are all incredibly close, and I miss seeing them on a daily basis. I also miss some of the fun guest stars that we got to meet every week!

What do you think made "The Love Boat" the classic that it is?

I think the reason that The Love Boat became a classic is because of the guest stars. Every week was a different group of people who took a cruise with us, and it was always exciting to see who the passengers might be. And of course the travel. People who may not have an opportunity to see the world got to do so by tuning into The Love Boat each week.

Did starring on "The Love Boat" develop your love for cruises or have you always been a cruise fan?

The Love Boat did develop my love for cruises because had it not been for The Love Boat it might've been a very long time before I ever got to go on a cruise! But the minute I stepped foot on the Pacific Princess deck, I was in love with cruising for life!

What motivated you to become an ambassador for Princess Cruises?

What motivated me to become the Celebrations Ambassador for Princess Cruises was the fact that I have celebrated some of the most important moments of my life on a Princess cruise. It was a natural fit for me to tell people about the many ways they can create special memories aboard a Princess cruise.

Can you describe your one-woman show "Jill Whelan: An Evening in Dry Dock"?

My one woman show "An Evening in Drydock" is basically a musical memoir that takes you through my first time on stage until the present. I talk about my children, marriage, and life growing up in front of the camera.

Why do you think the 50th anniversary of Princess Cruises is worth celebrating?

The reason I think celebrating the 50th anniversary of Princess Cruises is important because Princess has been responsible for creating some of the most cherished memories in people's lives. It certainly has in my life. I was ten years old when I began on The Love Boat, which was Princess Cruise Lines, and now I am the Celebrations Ambassador for Princess Cruises. So this relationship has been with me through most of my life - and it's been a beautiful thing. Because of Princess Cruises, people have had the opportunity to see the world in the most luxurious way. There's nothing like being a passenger aboard a Princess Cruise. Every attention to detail has been well thought out, and every experience have made memories that will last a lifetime! Princess Cruises has been doing this for 50 years and I truly believe that that is something very special to celebrate!

Are you working on any other projects in 2015?

I have many projects coming up in 2015. Celebrity Wife Swap will be airing 17 June, as well as an episode of Real Husbands of Hollywood, which will be airing in October. I just finished shooting a movie with an air date to be determined and I am now booking dates for my one woman show. I will also be doing some very exciting things with Princess Cruises that I can't wait to share with you!

You've been in the entertainment business for a long time...what advice would you give to young actors trying to make it?

Having been in the entertainment industry for many years the best advice I can give to young actors trying to make it is to be persistent. Believe in your talent, and never give up. Auditions and casting are a numbers game. So many entertainers want to be in this business but it's the ones who never give up who make it. You have to absolutely live and breathe it in order to make it worth it.
