Yes, because as technology advances, theories can change.

Yes they can, A theory is a way of looking at what is seen as available evidence and coming to the conclusion that is probably works in a certain way. however a theory offers an explanation to a situation that is not necessarily correct once it can be proved it turns into a law. Therefore as more information into a particular subject comes to light the theory can change or it can become a law because some bright spark worked out a way to prove it. On the other hand it can also be thrown out in light of evidence disproving it. For example people once thought that fly's were generated by rubbish.

In the second century, Ptolemy, who lived in the Egyptian town of Alexandria, produced a mathematical representation based on observation of the known solar system. Ptolemy’s model is called geocentric because the Earth was at the centre with the Sun and planets revolving in a series of circular orbits around the Earth. Copernicus reconstructed Ptolemy’s model 1200 years later, producing the heliocentric model, with the planets orbiting the Sun.
