Newton is a unit of force defined as 1kilogram-metre per second squared Mass is easily ascertained (weigh it), the other two variables can be calculated with a stop-watch and a tape measure, ie how far the object travelled in a known time. A 2 kilo object which travelled 10 metres in 2 seconds was therefore subject to a force of (2 x 10)/4 ie 5 Newtons

NEWTON is the metric unit of FORCE. Force is measured using the same units as we use for Weight. REASON:- Because weight is the FORCE of gravity acting on a Mass of matter. You can use a spring balance to measure the force exerted when you pull a weight along a surface. Scientists and research Engineers use a special machine which uses a hydraulic ram to measure heavy forces. The hydraulic ram forces oil into a specially designed pressure gauge which has a dial and a pointer moving around a circular scale which indicates the force . A NEWTON is equal to 0.102 Kilogram or 102 gram. The world wide symbol for Newton is a capital N. A Newton is also equivalent to 0.224 pound (Imperial)
