Atoms are formed through a process called atomic fusion, which occurs in the cores of stars. During atomic fusion, lighter elements like hydrogen are fused together under extreme heat and pressure to form heavier elements like helium, carbon, and oxygen. These newly formed atoms are then released into space through processes like supernovae explosions and stellar winds, eventually coalescing to form planets, including Earth.

The discipline nucleosynthesis is the science that studies the way in which the various atoms are formed.

Hydrogen is the simplest element, and consists of one electron and one proton. With sufficient energy, hydrogen atoms may be driven together to form a new element Helium. Which has 2 electrons, 2 protons, and several neutrons, depending upon the isotope.

The Helium formation process is described as the Triple Alpha Process, but is complex.

Helium is also produced as a result of radioactive decay, and it is from this that the Earth's quantities of Helium are derived.

And very briefly, when three helium atoms are driven together for a sufficient time, then Carbon is formed. This particular reaction requires enormous energy, and takes place in super nova explosions.

So in your body you contain material that was once the stuff of stars!
