To find the force on an object, you multiple the mass of the object by its acceleration

For example, let's say a ball is moving at 7 m/s squared and has a mass of12 kg.

The formula for force is: F = ma

F = 12 kg x 7 m/s squared

F = 84 N ( the unit for force is N, which is Newtons)

*Be careful, an object does not "have a force". A force is an action that can modify the shape of an object and/or modify its velocity. Therefore, you do not calculate the force of an object, but the force required to give it a certain acceleration.

F = ma. Force equals mass times acceleration. Mass in measured in kilograms(kg), acceleration is measured in meters per second squared (m/s^2), and force is measured in newtons(N). To calculate acceleration, calculate the velocity of the object. V = distance/displacement is divided by time. Distance/displacement is measured in meters (m), time is measured in seconds (s), and velocity is measured in meters per second (m/s). You would need to find the change in velocity of and divide that by the change in time. That would give you acceleration. Then multiply mass (kg) by acceleration (m/s^2). That would give you the force of the moving object.

A force is a physical agent that can modify the state of rest or uniform motion of an object. One cannot calculate the "force of a moving object" because a moving object does not "have such a force". However, one can calculate the force required to give a certain object an acceleration. One can calculate a force with the equation: F=ma where F is the force (in newtons), m is the mass of the object (in kilograms) and a is the acceleration of the object (in meter per second per second, or m/s²).

Ordinarily, when a force is acting upon an object, that object suffers an acceleration. In which direction the acceleration is depends on the force. For example: and object that is acted upon by the force of gravity will have an acceleration towards the source of the gravity, but too positive magnets will accelerate away from each other, until they are sufficiently apart.

There are certain formulas used in physics to determine the force applied to an object. MV=Ft, mass*velocity = force*time, a formula calculating the momentum of a moving object. So, if you apply a force to an object you can calculate the velocity it gains and observe the mass it has, then you observe the time the force was applied, finally the force applied can be determined by a simple division.

1 Find the mass of the object. For most basic physics problems, the mass will be listed in kilograms. For this example problem, the item is 39 kg. 2 Learn the acceleration of the item. When calculating force, both acceleration and mass will be given to you. The acceleration of the item will be in meters per second squared, or m/s^2. For this problem, the acceleration of the item is 25 m/s^2. 3 Multiply the numbers for mass and acceleration to find the force of the object. Since force equals mass times acceleration, this equation would read 39 x 25. The answer to this equation is 975. Because the mass was listed in kilograms and the acceleration in meters per second squared, the unit of force would be newton, or N. Therefore, the final problem would read 39 kg x 25 m/s^ = 975 N.

the force is the mass of the object times its acceleration. If it is moving at constant velocity (no acceleration) there is no net force..
