What you are speaking of is called social Darwinism and it should have been called social Spencerism because Herbert Spencer mistakenly applied the theory of evolution by natural selection to social theory and thus committed the naturalistic fallacy and Lamarckism at the same time.
Just because something is natural does not mean it is good and how this " superior " social class viewed hereditary was straight out of Lamarck.
Darwin wanted nothing to do with this mistaken notion.
He has been called the " Charles Darwin " of the 20th century, but his greatest interest was in abiogenesis and that rather from a dialectal materialistic perspective.
The history of science is the study of the historical development of science and scientific.
One was Darwin's theory was the process of evolution by natural selection and the second one was Lyell's theory was that animals can adapt and change their traits to fit the environment.
The Scopes Trial of 1925 exemplified the conflict between science and religion by highlighting the legal and cultural battle over the teaching of evolution in schools. John T. Scopes, a teacher in Tennessee, was prosecuted for violating a state law that prohibited the teaching of Darwin's theory of evolution, which many religious groups opposed. The trial became a national spectacle, pitting the scientific perspective of evolution against fundamentalist Christian beliefs. This clash reflected broader societal tensions between modern scientific understanding and traditional religious values during the early 20th century.
Scientists don't use evolution directly to classify species. The modern taxonomic system predates the theory of evolution by over a century (Linneus, one of the more influential people involved in its widespread acceptance wrote Systema Natureae in 1735 while Darwin didn't come along with The origin of Speciesuntil 1859).They group species by sets of shared characteristics. However, organisms evolving from shared ancestors also share many of the characteristics from that common ancestor so it ends up correlating with evolutionary paths very closely. It's probably more accurate to say that evolutionists use taxonomy than the other way around.
