Whenever you have an exponent (as in scientific notation) that is raised to a power, you simply multiply the exponents to get your answer. You can think of it simply by expanding it out as in this example:

(A X 10^y)^3 = (A X 10^y) X (A X 10^y) X (A X 10^y)

Then you use the rules of multiplying exponents to solve:

= A x A x A x 10^y+y+y

= A^3 X 10^3y

Here's an example:

(1.35 X 10^6)^3 = 1.35^3 x 10^(6 X 3)

= 2.460375 X 10^18

=2.46 X 10^18 (In significant digits)
