A little (well, BIG) thing called Food Poisoning, is what it is also known as. You can get Salmonella by a big variety of means, such as not washing your hands after making toilet, chopping raw meat /fish then vegetables on a chopping board [in that order], polluted water (including standing water - e.g. water that has been in a hose for a long time [also called Stale Water]). The bacteria can survive for weeks in dry environments, and even months in water. Of the 142 000 Americans that get infected each year, about 30 of them die - yes, it is lethal.
