For cotton clothing.

Wash in HOT water with soap/detergent.

When nearly dry , steep/wash in starch solution.

Dry.

Iron with the steamer on !!!!

Keep in an airing cupboard, so it does NOT become damp again.

When dry starched cotton clothing is worn , because it is stiff, it will 'stand off' the skin allowing the wearer to feel cool, because air can circulate between the skin and cotton material .

Yes it takes longer than casual washing, but it is more comfortable and smarter to wear.

You can do the same with linen clothes.

However, wool and silk clothes are washed in warm (NOT hot) water, and do not need starching.

When one sees people wearing T-shirts etc., and constantly pulling them . It is because they are hot/sweaty and the air cannot circulate properly between the skin and the cotton cloth. People then look 'destressed'.

NB Go and find a Chinese 'Steam' Laundry and watch them.

NNB If you are living or holidaying/vacation in the tropics, starched clothing is far more comfortable to wear.

What are care instructions for poly cotton?

Polyester-cotton blends require less care, but they do require more care than most pure cotton or polyester fabrics. Cotton-polyester blends resist fading and can be washed at higher temperatures.Easy care, warm wash, gentle iron. The easy care properties associated with polyester overcome the difficulties that can be attributed to cotton. As with many properties the overall performance will depend on the blend ratio. With the higher polyester concentrations the care becomes easier. High temperature laundering can be undertaken if required.
