Blood is a mixture of substances minly containing RBC (red blood cells or erythrocytes),WBC(white blood cells)and thrombocytes. The suffix -CYTES means cells. all of these substances in addition to other substances are present in the serum which is the fluid part of the blood. when blood is collected in a test tube using a sterile needle and it is allowed to stay the RBC's clot along with the thrombocytes and they settle down leaving the serum on top.
