I'm assuming you mean the energy in visible light. The energy in light comes to us in the form of electromagnetic radiation.

Electromagnetic radiation is carried in "photons" - packets of electromagnetic energy. A photon is both a particle and a wave. Photons act like separate particles, but also have properties like frequency, wavelength, and interference like waves. The energy of the photon determines what kind of electromagnetic radiation it is.

The electromagnetic spectrum includes (from high energy to low energy) gamma rays, x-rays, ultraviolet (UV), visible light, infrared (IR), microwaves, and radio waves . All of these forms of radiation are carried in the same form - electromagnetic radiation. Anything higher in energy than visible light can cause damage to DNA (which is why it is important to wear sunscreen to protect against UV, and lead shielding when getting an x-ray).

We can see visible light because that range of frequencies excites molecules in the rod and cone cells in our eyes, which then transmits a message to the brain through the optic nerve.

Light is a form of energy. Energy is the ultimate concept. It is not inanimate. It is lively. It is consciousness. It cannot be created or destroyed. It can be transformed from one to other as energy is exposed in different forms. It is beyond time and space. The total energy cannot be assessed. Hence light comes under the wave nature of energy. That wave is termed as electromagnetic wave and it does not need any material medium. But in contrast, sound waves are mechanical waves as it needs badly a material medium such as air, water or metal etc.
