Mitosis occurs in any cells in the body, however it doesn't take place in the gametes (Sperm and ova). Mitosis occurs when tissues are damaged e.g. skin = cut, mitosis is a rapid form of cell division that eventually heals to be new skin. mitosis can occur in the body anywhere, wherever new cells need to be produced to replace old or damaged cells.
Meiosis however is the rapid cell division, in which, happens only in the gametes (sex cells) and no where else in the body.

∙ 15y agomitosis is everywhere in your body, because it is the process of cell division and your cells die so there need to be new cells and new cells come from the old ones. meiosis is similar to mitosis except the amount of DNA in the cells is different. Mitosis starts with DNA replication so that when the cell divides both daughter cells of the original cell have the same amount of genetic material. Meiosis is how gametes are formed and they have half the genetic material in the daughter cells compared to the original cell so meiosis only really occurs in the sex organs.
