Snow does occur when temperature is below freezing because snow is just frozen rain . Lets say it rains , and the temperature is below freezing , that rain would become snow . So temperature below freezing means having snow is true .

What happens if you put water on snow?

Yes. Water vapor in the air can condense (like the water that forms on your cold glass of soda) and fall. If the temperature is warm, the water falls as rain. If the temperature is cold enough, the water freezes and falls as hail or snow.

Most water that falls back to earth goes to.?

depends how cold the climate and temperature of the region. Generally it will fall as rain, but at temperatures close to freezing will fall as sleet, and freezing or below..snow.

How snow forms by physical change .explain?

Like air bubbles in boiling water, snow does not form out of nothing. There has to be a defect, a foreign substance. In the case of snow, its existence probably starts with a piece of dirt floating in air and drawn by rising air upward. Water moisture in air causes some water molecules to cling to the dirt particle. A small water droplet is forming. If the air temperature is below freezing (about zero degree Celsius at normal atmospheric pressure), the water droplet solidifies and a tiny ice molecule is formed. More water molecules are drawn to the cool icy surface and the slowly-building ice molecules become snow. A fast-forming ice particle will be called hail. A ice-forming failure results in something more like fog. Snow can form even when the tiny icy entity (with a dirt particle in the nucleus) is falling down to earth, if the temperature stays below freezing. Catch a snow flake on your palm and you can see the snow flake melts. However, within the blink of an eye, you can even see a tiny piece of ice in the middle of the puddle of water droplet on you palm.

What are all the types of precipitation?

Rain(drops of water that fall from a cloud and have a diameter of at least 0.5 millimeter) and snow (precipitation in the form of ice crystals or, more often, aggregates of ice crystals). Other forms include sleet (falling small particles of ice that are clear to translucent), glaze (formed when supercooled raindrops turn to ice on colliding with solid objects), hail (hard, rounded pellets or irregular lumps of ice produced in large cumulonimbus clouds), and rime (a deposit of ice crystals formed by the freezing of supercooled fog or cloud droplets on objects whose surface temperature is below freezing).

Why do people use salt on icy roads?

because it will melt the ice on the sidewalks.

Water drops that fall when the temperature is below freezing, fall as SNOW . Water drops that fall when the temperature is above freezing fall as RAIN .

Where in the world can you find snow?

Anywhere the temperature can go below freezing.

What is the name for waterdrops that fall when the temperature is below freezing and the water become solid?

Depending on the temperature, water drops that fall when the temperature is below freezing can become sleet, ice, or snow.

Does it have to bebelow freezing for it to snow?

Snow forms when the atmospheric temperature is at or below freezing (0 degrees Celsius or 32 degrees Fahrenheit) and there is a minimum amount of moisture in the air. If the ground temperature is at or below freezing, of course the snow will reach the ground. In the clouds, the water droplets freeze and become ice crystals, or snow!

How and why does snow start?

When the temperature is below freezing, moisture in the air will crystalize into snowflakes.

What forms when air temperature is below freezing and water vapor changes directly to solid?

snow

Is there a temperature where you can't make snow for ski slopes?

for snow to be snow, not water, the temperature of the air has to be below 0 degrees Celsius (freezing point) and the ground has to be below 0 degrees Celsius.

Can it snow when the temperature is 50 degrees?

no, has to be 32 degrees or below! sorry yes it can snow if it is 50f at the surface, but below freezing in the upper levels.

What tempateure does it snow?

The temperature in the clouds must be below freezing. If it is below freezing (32 Fahrenheit, 0 Celsius) all the way to the ground, snow will fall. If not, it will melt and reach the ground as rain, freezing rain, or sleet, depending on if it has time to refreeze. Snow can even fall if the temperature at the surface is a little above freezing if it doesn't have time to melt as it falls.

Why is snow in shade softer than snow in sun?

Snow in the shade potentially hasn't melted or metamorphized yet, if temperatures are below freezing. In the sun, the additional heat from radiation will be enough to melt the snow on the surface, which then refreezes because the temperature is below freezing.

Water drops that fall when the temperature is above freezing?

rain because if its above freezing then it wont be snow or freezing rain because they would freeze below freezing and not above freezing:)
