Best Answer

The origin of new species.

To be considered a member of a singe species, organisms must be capable of reproducing and producing viable offspring. Once they have evolved to become reproductively isolated, they can no longer fulfill these requirements and are considered separate species.

What would happen if there was zero variation between all of the organisms on earth?

Evolution cannot occur.

Is the struggle between organisms to survive in a habitat with limited resources called the natural selection?

The selection of the organism that survives best in a habitat with limited resources and that organisms superior reproductive success is called natural selection.

What is the Differentiate between protective isolation and regular isolation?

Protective (regular) isolation- keeps germs inside clients room Regular(routine) isolation- keeps germs outside client's room

Evolutionists often make the distinction between evolution as a fact and evolutionary theory What does this mean?

Evolution is descent with modification. Or, change over time. And formally as the change in allele frequencies over time in a population of organisms. This is an observed and a observable fact. The theory is; the theory of evolution by natural selection, which explains the fact of evolution. Natural selection is the main mechanism ( there are others ) that drives the adaptive change in organism that can lead to speciation, or just simple evolution.

What is the difference between chemical evolution and biological evolution?

The word evolution is a noun derived from the verb 'to evolve', which means to change over time. In science, only one type of evolution is given the title evolution in a special sense, where in a scientific context it refers solely to the changing of living organisms, the evolution of living organisms through genetic changes in populations which lead to adaptations which lead to speciation, all over long periods of time. Chemical evolution may sometimes refer to the mishmash of carbon based chains and forming aminoacids in the Precambrian seas prior to true life-formation; abiogenesis. It is not a special term of 'evolution' as that only occurs in the biological sense. It is therefore an evolution from the sense of the verb 'evolve' which merely unspecifically denotes a change.

Why is isolation important in evolution?

It is the reproductive isolation between populations that allows divergence between populations, and ultimately speciation, to occur. Often this reproductive isolation is the result of geographical isolation, for instance when part of a population migrates to new territories.

Difference between the evolution of man and the evolution of apes?

Man is an ape. The evolution of one is the evolution of the other. Genetics in a particular immediate environment and reproductive isolation leads to the variences in two species that share very recent common ancestors.

What is the difference between nonrandom mating and reproductive isolation?

Nonrandom mating refers to individuals in a population having an equal opportunity to mate with other organisms in the population. Most organisms choose their mates based on physical and behavioral characteristics. Reproductive isolation refers to physical barriers segregating population and therefore causing change in genetic variation.

Breeding between very short dogs and long dogs is possible this kind of reproductive isolation is known as what?

behavioral isolation

What is the difference between the meanings of the terms evolution and natural selection?

Evolution is the change in allele frequency over time in a population of organisms. Change over time and a fact. Natural selection is the nonrandom survival and reproductive success of randomly varying organisms and explains much about the fact of evolution.

The term reproductive isolation mechanism refers to?

a blockage of gene flow between populations

Which part pf Darwin's theory of evolution explores natural selection?

Darwin developed The theory of evolution by natural selection. So, to answer you question, all of it!You need to make a distinction between evolution, the change in allele frequency over time in a population of organisms, and natural selection, the nonrandom survival and reproductive success of randomly varying organisms. Natural selection is the main driver of evolution.

Change producing differences between organisms?

Divergent Evolution

What must occur for a population to diverge?

Reproductive isolation: a decline in interbreeding frequency between two segments of the ancestral population.

How does comparative anatomy not support evolution?

The comparisons between the anatomies of various organisms show common ancestry which supports evolution.

How long between the evolution of single versus multicelluar organisms?

2.5 billion years

What are reproductive barriers?

There are two general categories of reproductive isolating mechanisms: prezygotic, or those that take effect before fertilization, and postzygotic, those that take effect afterward. Prezygotic RIMs prevent the formation of hybrids between members of different populations through ecological, temporal, ethological (behavioral), mechanical, and gametic isolation.
