Over time, natural selection results in changes in the inherited characteristics of a population. These changes increase a species' fitness in its environment. Natural selection cannot be seen directly; it can only be observed as changes in a population over many successive generations.

this is when say....

there is a group of rabbits.... one of the rabbits is freakishly large and therefore is faster...

a fox comes along and only the bigger faster better rabbit gets away and mates with another bigger better faster rabbit and makes more superior rabbits and the rabbits evolve and get better and better..

Only one of the ways things evolve over time. There is also gene flow and genetic drift, both of which are also evolution, the change in allele frequency over time in a population of organisms.

So, the theory of evolution by natural selection answers the species problem; how organisms adapt and branch into new species over time.

What concept of evolution explains why organisms are constructed to meet the demands of their environment?

Natural selection explains adaptive change in the immediate environment.

Is evolution a natural selection?

Natural selection explains the process of evolution: evolution by natural selection. It basically means that species with the highest fitness (survival rate) will live, and be selected by nature for the characteristics they possess that make them more apt to survive. Because of natural selection, evolution occurs.

How is the idea of evolution a threat to scientific progress?

The idea of evolution is that evolution is a fact and the theory of evolution by natural selection explains much about the fact of evolution. Your question is ill posed. A more modern phrase would say your question is malformed. How could the fact of evolution be a threat to anything? How could the theory that is the backbone of biology not be one of the greatest progressions in science? Much confusion between fact and theory. Theory explains fact and encompasses fact and is a higher scientific concept than fact.

Which is more likely to be true natural selection or evolution?

Evolution, of course. Evolution can happen without natural selection in some cases; drift, flow. Generally though, natural selection causes evolution and then, by definition, would come first.

How could the Theory of Evolution contribute to the rise in the popularity of Gothic literature?

The theory of evolution by natural selection explains how adaptive change may lead to speciation,\. As any good scientific theory it explains much but not everything. I seriously doubt, except in an ultimate sense, that you can explain why Gothic literature is now popular with evolutionary theory.

Should evolution be tought in schools?

Absolutely! This is not even a subject for discussion among educated people. Evolution is a fact and the theory opf evolution by natural selection explains that fact.

Evolution is concidered to be a?

Evolution is a scientific theory. A theory is consistent with all known laws of physics and satisfactorily explains all confirmed observations.

What does Darwin theory of evolution explain?

The theory of evolution by natural selection. It explains evolution; the change in allele frequency over time in a population of organisms. Why organisms change over time in differing environments.

What did Darwin's theory of evolution suggest?

The theory of charles darwin is the theory of evolution it explains that species of live evolved from a primitive form by way of adaptation and natural selection

Why is Darwins theory is accepted?

The theory of evolution by natural selection is no longer just Darwin's theory because the theory has been modified and added to somewhat in the last 150 years +. Still, the theory is supported by massive amounts of converging evidence, is internally consistent, has the ability to generated testable hypotheses and, doing what a scientific theory is supposed to do, explains much about the fact of evolution. The theory of evolution by natural selection is the bedrock of biology.

One reason why evolution is true?

Because it is a fact that allele frequencies change over time in populations of organisms. And the theory of evolution by natural selection explains much of the fact of evolution very well.

Who gave the theory of evolution?

There is no " theory of evolution " as evolution is a fact. The theory is; the theory of evolution by natural selection and explains much about the fact of evolution. Charles Robert Darwin and Alfred Russel Wallace come up with the theory of evolution by natural selection, though natural selection is a phrase coined by Darwin.
