Deciduous tress do go into dormancy during winter months. Deciduous trees will start to lose their leaves in autumn. This process is called abscission.
You could look at the bark type, and the shape of the tree and branches.
The same way other trees do, by photosynthesis. They have green chlorophyll, it's just masked by other pigments, called anthocyanins.
Evergreen, or coniferous.http://www.elmcare.com/trees/types_of_trees.htmTrees can also be divided into deciduous and coniferous categories.Deciduous trees are also known as broadleaf trees because the leaves are generally larger and wider than those of conifers. The larger leaf size means a greater surface area for photosynthesis, but it also mean the leaf is too fragile to withstand winter conditions. Therefore, most deciduous trees drop their leaves in autumn.Coniferous trees keep their leaves throughout the year, shedding only the oldest leaves. Usually these leaves are lower down on the tree and do not receive as much sunlight as newly developed leaves higher up. Some of the best-known members of the conifer family are pines, spruces, firs, and hemlocks. The cones of the conifers are its flowers. The coniferous trees mentioned above do not have leaves. Their foliage is needles. A sample of a tree that does not lose it's leaves in the fall is the Arbutus tree. This tree sheds it's bark which is used to make pharmaceuticals for the medical field.
Trees that lose their leaves once a year are called "deciduous." In cooler climates this is usually in Autumn. In some climates plants lose their leaves in the Dry season these are also called deciduous. Losing all the leaves is the important part. Trees that stay green all year round are called "evergreen"
Decidous trees
The difference between deciduous trees and fir trees is that deciduous trees lose their leaves while fir trees do not. Deciduous trees usually lose their leaves during winter, but some in the tropics lose their leaves during the dry season.
decidous tree
Coniferous trees bear cones. Pine. Decidous trees shed their leaves in autumn. Elm.
Rubber trees are not deciduous; they are evergreen trees. They keep their leaves throughout the year and do not shed them in the fall like deciduous trees.
They are green - contain chorophyll as a photosynthetic pigment. Needles are a variation on the typical leaf structure to reduce water loss through the winter whereas most trees shed their decidous leaves to accomplish the same purpose.
The animals that live here are losing there homes because of us and we need to stop cause we are taking the're homes and its hard for them to find new places to live. The deciduous forest is very pretty but we are destoying them cause we are taking the trees and oxygen form the forest.
When trees lose their for whatever reason its called defoliageing. Also, a decidous tree is a tree or woody plant that loses it's leaves every year.
