Science is a big part of the school curriculum, and I believe that it is important that we learn about the world around us. I enjoy Science a lot because I discover things and facts I didn't know and do experiments to explain questions and charts to help with the experiment. Science has a lot of explanations that prove statements.

Is science a good or bad thing?

Different people all around the world have different views and ideas on science, some support it and some don't.

In my opinion, science is a good thing. I have many reasons for my opinion such as without science people wouldn't be skilful enough to develop things such as vaccines to prevent diseases. These vaccines save thousands of lives a year thanks so science. Science is everywhere in our everyday lives, even cooking and gardening include it, it has transformed and shaped our lives and without it there would be so much unknown, and possibly very dangerous. In the last decade computers and technology has developed- around 90% of Americans own a computer. Electricity- just imagine the world without it. Thanks to Michael Faraday (who discovered it) has changed our lives. Louis Pasteur, was experimenting with bacteria in the 1860s, people didn't know what caused diseases or how to cure them- he discovered that heating and/or disinfecting objects would kill all germs left on them. Doctors then continued to do clean their instruments and saved many lives. The Periodic Table is a chart of all the elements, in 1869 a scientist noticed that when you lined them up by atomic weight they formed groups with similar properties. They used this to estimate the existence of undiscovered elements and note errors in atomic weights. My last point is Isaac Newton, a British mathematician, among his many discoveries, his most important would probably be the law of universal gravitation, this is how he went on to figure out why things fell to the ground and why planets orbited the sun.

However, science has caused many problems in our everyday life too, such as the abuse of technology- this creates many problems. A couple of the problems it causes is credit card fraud (getting money stolen), becoming too dependent on technology and pollution. Pollution is a major problem facing the earth today, it is slowly melting the ice caps which will then flood the entire earth, this will happen because there's too many fumes being let off into the air which creates a cloud, that keeps hot air locked inside the earth's atmosphere which continues to heat the surface; these fumes come from things such as cars or factories. Nuclear weapons are now being produced which are very threatening objects, they can kill thousands just by simply dropping it. Due to humans misusing things that science has created it has resulted in extinction of animals- animals are used for testing. Science discovered drugs and alcohol - these led to allot of lives being ruined not only their own but other peoples too.

How the science is harmfull to human race?

Science by itself is neither good or bad, it's just a tool. It's all in the usage. A hammer can be used both to build things up as well as destroying things. Considering that average life expectance is still rising, I think science has done more good than bad.

Your question is an altered version of something that has been said about fire, that it is a good servant but a bad master. Science is certainly a good servant, and a good teacher as well. We have learned a lot from science.
