Well, darling, the hereditary material is stored in the chromosomes, specifically in the form of genes. These genes are made up of DNA, which is tightly packed into those X and Y chromosomes. So, to put it simply, it's those chromosomes that hold the keys to your genetic inheritance.

What are the small storage spaces in a cell called?

The storage areas of a cell are called vacuoles. They are typically enclosed by a membrane and store food, excess water, or waste.

What are three main parts of cell and describe the function of each?

1. Cell Membrane- Every cell is surrounded by a cell membrane. It is sometimes called a plasma membrane. The cell membrane separtes the cell from its external environment and from the neighboring cells. It also regulates the passage or transport of certain molecules into and out of the cell, while preventing the passage of others. This is why the cell membrane is often called a selective semipermeable membrane. The cell membrane consists of protein and lipid (fatty substance) molecules arranged in a double layer. 2. Nucleus- The nucleus is the most important organelle (Little Body) within the cell. It has two vital functions; to control the activities of the cell and to facilitate cell division. This spherical organelle is usually located in or near the center of the cell. Various dyes or stains, such as iodine, can be used to make the nucleus stand out. The nucleus stains vividly becaue it contains deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and protein. Surrounding the nucleus is a membrane called the nuclear membrane. The DNA and protein are arranged in a loose and diffuse state called chromatin. When the cell is ready to divide, the chromatin condenses to form short, rodlike structures called chromosomes. There is a specific number of chromosomes in the nucleus for each species. When a cell reaches a certain size, it may divide to form two new cells. The nucleus divides first by a process called mitosis. It is only during the process of mitosis that the chromosomes can be seen. Chromosomes are important because they store hereditary material DNA, which is passed on from one generation of cells to the next. 3. Cytoplasm- Cytoplasm is a sticky, semifluid material found between the nucleus and the cell membrane. Chemical analysis of the cytoplasm shows that it consists of proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, minerals, salts, and water. Each of these substances other than water varies greatly from one cell to the next and form one organism to the next. The cytoplasm is the background for all chemical reactions that take place in the cell, such as protein synthesis an cellular respiration. Molecules are transported about the cell by the circular motion of the cytoplasm. Embedded in the cytoplasm are organelles, or cell structures that help a cell to function.

Does the nucleus store hereditary material?

Yes.

What Organelles store most of the cell's hereditary information?

The nucleus stores most of the cell's hereditary information in the form of DNA molecules. Within the nucleus, the DNA is organized into structures called chromosomes.

Why is DNA considered a better hereditary material than RNA?

DNA is considered a better hereditary material than RNA because it is more stable, has a lower mutation rate, and can store genetic information more efficiently.

Do carbohydrates store and transmit hereditary information?

No, only nucleic acids store and transmit hereditary information.

What is the part of the cell where chromosomes are stored?

The chromosomes store water I think;). Ke$ha rocks Madonna rock at the super bowl

Where is the genetic materials chromosomes stored in plant and animal cell?

Eukaryotic cells store their genetic material (DNA) in chromosomes in the nucleus. In addition there is some DNA in each mitochondrion and chloroplast.Prokaryotic cells store their genetic information in a single chromosome in the cytoplasm, and in a number of small rings of DNA called plasmids, also in the cytoplasm.

What is used to store hereditary information?

Punnet Squares

What is the relationship between DNA and chromosomes?

DNA is the genetic material that carries instructions for making proteins and controlling cell functions. Chromosomes are structures made of DNA and proteins that store and organize the DNA in a cell. Each chromosome contains a single, long strand of DNA that is tightly coiled and condensed. So, DNA is the genetic material found within chromosomes.

What is captive consumption?

material issued to the production department by the store department is called material issued for captive consumption

How do DNA and cromosomes fit together?

Chromosomes are made of DNA. There is a huge amount of DNA in cells. DNA is typically present at a long chain of building blocks called nucleotides. Since long strands of DNA have to be stored in small spaces, they are tightly rolled and packed into structures called chromosomes

What are the roles of chromosomes DNA and genes in storing genetic material?

Chromosomes are structures composed of DNA that carry genetic information in the form of genes. DNA is the molecule that encodes genetic instructions, while genes are specific segments of DNA that code for specific proteins or RNA molecules. Together, chromosomes, DNA, and genes work to store and transmit genetic material from one generation to the next.

What does the nucleus do for the the animal cell?

As for any eukaryote, the nucleus controls all metabolisms (such as the nutrients that come and go) and contains the hereditary material (DNA) necessary for reproduction. The nucleus is an organelle within every cell in an animal; its purpose is to store genetic information and to direct the cell's ongoing activities through regulation of the RNA that is produced.protects it
