first and foremost, quality of details; then, reproducability. If someone else can get enough information from the setup and description of an event, they can find or create the same conditions themselves and observe the (hopefully) same results. If you observe different results from the same setup, there is a variable somewhere in the setup or circumstances that is creating the difference. If your observation has enough detail and accounts for enough variables it will likely find acceptance in the scientific community (unless of course, your observations refute someone else's pet theory, then you might receive criticism rather than acceptance).
