When a force causes an object to move in the direction of the force what occurs?

Usually any learner would get a doubt regarding the force acting on a body. There are many situations. 1: If a force constantly acts on a body, then it will be accelerated. So its speed would go on increasing if it starts from rest. 2: If a force acts on a uniformly moving body opposite to the direction of motion, then the speed of the body would go on decreasing and it comes to stop. Yet the force is in action, then the body would get accelerated in the other direction. 3: If a force is applied in such a way that it is balanced by an equal and opposite force, then neither acceleration nor retardation is possible. Yet the body could be got moved through some displacement. In such a case we compute only the amount of work done by that applied force. Examples: a) Lifting a book against its gravitational weight. b) Dragging an object on the floor exerting a force which equals to the force of friction between the object and the floor. Even in the earlier case work is said to be done by the force and that work performed will be available as kinetic energy in the moving system. But in latter case the energy spent would be available as potential energy in case of lifting and heat energy in case of dragging.

How can a force affect moving object?

because the force pulls up the moving object and it stops When a force is applied to a body, the body gets acceleration or retardation. so the moving object may move faster or may stop. when there is no force, the moving object will move with a constant velocity.

What effect does a force have on an object in motion?

This depends on in which direction the force is being applied. If the force is applied against the direction of movement, it will slow a body down If the force is applied in the same direction of movement then it will cause the body to accelerate. If the force is applied in a direction at angle to the motion, the force can either cause the object to slow down or accelerate depending on the angle.

What is the friction that hinders a stationary object from moving on a surface when a force is applied to that object?

Static friction. The frictional force is greater then the force applied, meaning the object can't move.

Force that causes an object o move in the same direction as the force is?

gravitational pull/force

In what direction does an applied force move an object?

An applied force will move an object in the direction of the force.

What is the transfer of energy that causes an object to move in the direction of the force called?

The transfer of energy that causes an object to move in the direction of the force is called work. Work is defined as the product of the force applied to an object and the distance over which the force is applied in the direction of the force.

Where is force applied to an object?

A force can be applied to an object at any point on its surface or through a specific contact point. The direction of the force determines how the object will move or behave in response to the applied force.

What is needed to make an object move to make an object change direction or to stop the motion of an object?

To make an object move, a force is required. To change the direction of an object's motion, a different force must be applied in the desired direction. To stop the motion of an object, a force opposite to its direction of motion, known as a braking force, can be applied.

What is applied when you push or pull an object?

When you push or pull an object, you apply a force. This force can cause the object to move, change direction, or deform depending on its mass and the direction and magnitude of the force applied.

In what directions can an object move when acted on by a force?

it will move the object that the force i pushing it to Example: Force---->Object------> the object is moved in the direction it is being pushed or pulled by the force

What is the transfer of energy that causes an object to move in the direction of the force?

The transfer of energy that causes an object to move in the direction of the force is called work. Work is done when a force is applied to an object and causes it to move in the same direction as the force. The amount of work done is equal to the force applied multiplied by the distance the object moves in the direction of the force.

What Is the transfer of energy that occurs when a force makes an object move in the direction of the force?

The transfer of energy that occurs when a force makes an object move in the direction of the force is called work. Work is calculated as the product of the force applied to an object and the distance over which the force is applied in the direction of motion.

What is it when you exert force on an object that causes the object to move?

When you exert force on an object that causes it to move, it is called mechanical work. Work is defined as the product of the force applied to an object and the distance over which the force is applied in the direction of the force.

What must be applied to an object to change its direction?

A force must be applied to an object in order to change its direction. By exerting a force at an angle to the object's initial direction of motion, the object will change its path and move in a different direction.

When does a force applied to an object not do any work?

A force does not do any work on an object when the object does not move in the direction of the force or when the force is perpendicular to the direction of motion. Work is only done when there is displacement in the direction of the force.

True or false work is done only when an object moves in the direction of the applied force?

False. Work is done whenever a force is applied to an object and there is a displacement in the direction of the applied force, whether the object moves in that direction or not. In cases where the object does not move, work is still done as long as there is a force applied over a distance.
