Two lines are said to be parallel if the [perpendicular] distance between them is always the same. In Euclidean space, they will never meet. The opposite sides of a sheet of printer paper, for example.

An example of how parallel lines look is railroad tracks . . . the stay the same distance apart of each other, no matter how far they go.
