Bernoulli believed that the air flowing over and under an aircraft's wings created unequal pressures because of the curved shape. He believed that the air passing over the upper curved surface was 'stretched out' so it exerted less pressure. This created greater pressure underneath so the wing lifted. The only thing wrong with this is that if it's true then planes should not be able to fly unsidedown! Steve
