Lead shot is a large quantity of lead pellets of a specific sizes. It is often used for shotgun cartridges especially for bird hunting. Lead shot is also sewn into mesh bags and used as weight for diving.
A hydrometer consists of a cylindrical stem and a bulb weighted with mercury or lead shot to make it float upright. Mercury has a higher density, thus a lower volume for the same weight than lead. It is a toxic liquid metal, but also more dangerous and difficult to clear up the mess when a glass hydrometer is broken
there is 1 ounce in a standard spirit shot
There are many different types of lead. Some of these include a summary lead, a 5W lead, which answers who, what, when, where, and why, and a question lead.
Lead. The densities of lead and tin are 11.34 g/cm^3 and ~7 g/cm^3, respectively. Lead solder is an alloy made of mostly lead and tin; a mixture of lead and tin will weigh less than 100% lead. Lead-free solders are made of tin, copper, silver, indium, bismuth, zinc, antimony, and other metals; none of these metals is heavier than lead. So, lead is the champion.
Lead has many uses and applications, and was even more commonly used in the past:Stained glass windows, especially in older churches, use lead to hold the glass pieces in place;some boats strap pure lead blocks to their hulls to prevent corrosion by galvanisation;fishing sinkers, bullets and shot shells are mostly lead because of its density;car batteries use a reaction with lead to create energy;the solder in most circuits uses lead;pewter mugs and other items (now a health hazard) contain lead;lead is used as shielding in radioactive situations (x-ray rooms, radiation suits and other such areas);Environmental concerns have led to restrictions on lead used in paints, but many homes built in the 20th century and before may have these potentially toxic paints.Electronic devices should not be disposed of in landfills but rather be properly recycled.
Lead shot is heavier

Chilled lead shot has less antimony than "magnum lead shot" and therefore is softer than Magnum lead shot. Though I have never noticed a difference between the two, some say the chilled shot doesn't break clay birds as well at the range.
use lead only steel chokes are specified on the choke as steel of lead shot
No , Steel Shots are not poisonous not environmental hazardous They break up in small pieces and can be reused after melting and reforming it
Yes. Lead shot may be safely fired from a shotgun that is made for steel shot. Problems arise when you fire steel shot from an older shotgun that is made for lead shot only- the barrel is softer metal, and make be scratched by the steel shot.
It shouldn't. It is supposed to be lead free.
Yes you can. Lead Shot is Lead Shot. I shoot all kinds of different sizes of shot out of my Mossberg and Remington Shotguns. What you do not want to do is shot a slug out of barrel made for shot. Get a rifled barrel for that.
Not outright, but if the birds are shot with lead pellets the predatory birds can get lead poisoning.
No. If it is marked 'lead only' then it must have been manufactured after steel shot was available but not designed to withstand the additional friction from steel shot.
Depends on the size of the shot, whether the shot is lead, steel or something else, the weight of the load and the gauge of the shell. A lead 1 oz load of #6 birdshot is about 225 pellets.
Lead (the metal Lead). Hunting waterfowl requires the use of non-toxic shot.
