Raising your own worms is easy! I suggest a large foam cooler to begin. Just fill it a good quater of the way full of the best darkest soil you can find or buy some bags of all natural potting soil. you can mix in dead leaves or some cut grass from your yard for the worms to eat. I like to feed my worms natural oats and bread scraps. You can also feed them vegtable scraps that are dried out some. be carefull feeding much vegtables that are not dried very good because this can cause mold to start growing. If you are growing red worms , keep them in a good shaded climate. Nightcrawler requir cooler tempertures not to exceed 68 degrees fairinheight.

What kind of food will earthworms recycle?

Nearly all vegetable matter can be consumed by earthworms as long as its not too woody. I use Tiger worms in my compost as they speed it up and will even make short work of orange peel. Meat products should never be composted (give it to your dog then put the dog poo in the compost). Bananas and melons are worm candy.
