Husband: Pierre Curie. They met though Marie's sister, Bronya. Marie was looking for a laboratory and Pierre said she could work. He won the Nobel Prize in 1903, along with Marie. They devoted their life to science and had two kids.

Irene: Marie and Pierre's eldest daughter. She took after her mother and devoted her life to science. Later on she won a Nobel Prize, but neither of her parents were alive to see her get it.

Marie's sisters were Zofia (born 1862), Bronislawa (born 1865), and Helena ( born 1866). Her only brother was Jozef (born 1863).Maria was only eight when her oldest sister caught typhus and died. Typhus is a bacterial disease spread by lice or fleas. That death was followed less than three years later by the death of her mother, Madame Sklodowska, who lost a five-year battle with tuberculosis at the age of 42. Tuberculosis is a bacterial infection that mostly affects the lungs (pulmonary tuberculosis), but it can also affect the nerves, circulation, bones, and joints.The surviving family members, Professor Sklodowski, his son Joseph and his

daughters Bronislawa, Helena, and Maria drew

closer to one another. Marie, her sister, and brother

all graduated with the highest grades in their class.

The Sklodowski family was very learned and cultured,
