Well, the Universe has only existed for about 14.7 billion years, so the first 433 billion years were uninteresting. Then the Earth only formed about 4 - 5 billion years ago, so the atmosphere was very tenuous until that time.

∙ 6y agoThat depends how many millions of years you go back in time. One or two million years ago, it was probably quite similar to today's atmosphere. On the other hand, 3 billion years or so there was hardly any oxygen - until living beings started producing oxygen, resulting in an environmental catastrophe (the "Oxygen Catastrophe") which almost killed all life on Earth! If you go back even further in time, there was an atmosphere that consisted mainly of hydrogen. For more details, check the Wikipedia article "Atmosphere of Earth".
