1935. I'll offer a brief explanation of the Roman numeral notation, if you're interested.
The different symbols (the ones I know, anyway), and their values, are:
I - 1, one
V - 5, five
X - 10, ten (which is quite common today, e.g. INXS released a best of 10 years album named X)
L - 50, fifty
C - 100, hundred (also common - I'm not sure, but I surmise it might be the origin of the Cent term, as in cents (metric currency), perCENT (out of 100) etc.
D - 500, five hundred
M - 1000, one thousand
The general rules are:
- use multiple instances of each symbol (up to maximum of 3), adding like symbols together,
- write from left to right,
- adding if on right, subtracting if on left - you'll understand when you see the example.
Examples:
1 = I
2 = II
3 = III
4 is slightly different. Remember that 3 is the max number of like symbols you can have, so 4 could also be written as 5 - 1, or V - I, but as I stated in the last rule, subtract to left, so IV (or 4) literally means 1 (from) 5, or 4.
5 - easy, that's V
6 - similar to 4, but is one MORE than 5, and "add to right", remember, so 5 + 1 is written as VI.
7 - VII. 5 plus 2 ones.
8 - 5 + 3, or V + III, or correctly VIII.
9 - Remember that the max of like symbols allowed is 3, so 9 follows a slightly different pattern, which should be easy to guess by now. One less than 10, or 1 from 10, or IX.
10 - X.
The rest of the numbers should be easy to work out, right?
1996
The dirt would dry out and the crop yield would lower year after year.
The answer to this riddle is that every year New Year's Day precedes Christmas. New Year's Day is the first day of January of every year, and Christmas is 12 months later on December 25.
365 is equivalent to one year and 12 months is equivalent to one year
1970 starting this year 2010
They make about 200,000 a year!!

Yes, when used as an adjective. Year-to-year is hyphenated when used as an adjective: year-to-year comparison, year-to-year budget. Year to year is not hyphenated when it is used as a time period: We come back to this same beach year to year.
the year last year was 2010
Once a year. Every year. Year, after year, after year.............
You can re-use this from year to year.
The correct use of this phrase is "a year" Ex. "Twice a year, Three times a year, 14 times a year."
A leap year is a year that has one extra day in it. It only happens every every 4 years. Leap Year = 366 days A clear year is a year that is regular year. Clear year = 365 days A leap year is a year that has one extra day in it. It only happens every every 4 years. Leap Year = 366 days A clear year is a year that is regular year. Clear year = 365 days
