Each color of paint has it's own characteristics of which part of white light that it absorbs and/or reflects. It's the reflected light that gets to your eyes ... and is interpreted by your brain into "color".

Do you mean the primary colours? The primary colours of pigment are red, blue, and yellow. The primary colours of light are red, blue, and green.
You can certainly have a shadow that is another color besides gray. Gray or black shadows are produced when bright white light shines onto something. If you use a different color of light, you can get a different shade to the shadow. Also, you can use different lenses to look at the light and shadow, and that will change the color.
