Copper tools were known nearly 7000 years ago. The bronze age (in most parts of the world) began about 4000 years ago, when copper was alloyed with tin. Iron is not an alloy, but it takes higher temperatures to refine iron ore. Iron is stronger than bronze, but more easily rusts. The iron age began about 2000 years ago.

Metal was not made by any person -- metals occur naturally and are extracted from the ground by mining and then processed into the metal that we see around us. Most of the elements in the periodic table are metals.
