The only one of the four that's "commonly refined by electrolysis" is brine, but whether it'll be refined by electrolysis or by just pouring it into a shallow container and allowing it to evaporate depends on the products you want to obtain. If you're trying to get sodium hydroxide, hydrogen and chlorine, electrolysis is the process for you. This is the Chloralkali process.

If you want salt, evaporation is the way to go.

Why are ilmenite and rutile considered to be ores?

Both contain the useful metal titanium. Titanium can be refined from them profitably.

What is alumiuim made out of?

The metals present are probably titanium and potassium (or sodium) present as cations (positive ions). Because it is an alum, there is probably also sulfate included as the anion (negative ion)

What are some examples of natural chemicals?

In chemistry, a chemical substance is a form of matter that has constant chemical composition and characteristic properties.[1]It cannot be separated into components by physical separation methods, i.e. without breaking chemical bonds. It can be solid, liquid, gas, or plasma.Chemical substances are often called 'pure' to set them apart from mixtures. A common example of a chemical substance is pure water; it has the same properties and the same ratio of hydrogen to oxygen whether it is isolated from a river or made in a laboratory. Other chemical substances commonly encountered in pure form are diamond (carbon), gold, table salt (sodium chloride) and refined sugar (sucrose). However, simple or seemingly pure substances found in nature can in fact be mixtures of chemical substances. For example, tap water may contain small amounts of dissolved sodium chloride and compounds containing iron, calcium and many other chemical substances.Chemical substances exist as solids, liquids, gases, or plasma and may change between these phases of matter with changes in temperature orpressure. Chemical reactions convert one chemical substance into another.Forms of energy, such as light and heat, are not considered to be matter, and thus they are not "substances" in this regard.

What are the best example of solidification?

As a liquid, water's molecules are inconstant random motion. As the liquid cools, the molecules move ever slower, until their entropy is such that they end their random motion, and align themselves along certain planes. When this happens, the water solidifies and turns to ice. This is one form of solidification. There are many other types of solidification depending on the context of your question. Perhaps if you refined your question, you will get a more refined answer.

What is the health disadvantage of oil refining?

Actually raw oil contains substances like more cholesterol and unsaturated fat and even certain % of wax, so unless its refined it's not good for health, refined oil is good for health.

What can crude oil make?

Crude oil can be refined to make a plethora of petroleum product. Kerosene, gasoline, petroleum jelly (commonly known as Vaseline), lubricating oil, and heavy fuel, and many other products. Crude oil contains many different substances which all separate during the refining process.

What ingredients are in sugar water?

Granulated sugar is pure sucrose, also known as table sugar. It is commonly refined from plants that contain sugar in abundance like sugar cane or sugar beets. Sucrose is also the main sugar in honey and in brown sugar, though there are other substances along with the sucrose in those mixtures.

Why is refined sugar legal?

In moderation, it's not too harmful. I'm sure if they made it illegal, it would start a crime wave (like there already are for illegal substances).

Is sugar solution a pure substance?

Refined substance can be a pure substance depending on the type of sugar used. If the refined sugar is white, then it is a pure substance. If it the refined sugar is brown, then it is not a pure substance.
