The Shakers, or United Society of Believers in Christ's Second Appearing, first invented a simple broom in the 19th century.
Info from Wikipedia
Brooms have been around for at least two thousand years. For the longest time they were constructed of twigs lashed to a handle. In 1797, Levi Dickenson introduced the use of sorghum, or "broom corn," as broom bristles. In 1798, the Shakers invented the broom vice, which allowed brooms to be flattened and sewn into shape. Come the Industrial Revolution, and you see Massachusetts making over a million brooms in a single year (1850).
The falling motion of the broom is the acceleration of the broom The broom hitting the floor and slowing down is the deceleration of the broom. Remember, acceleration is the speeding up and deceleration is the slowing down (De is the Latin root meaning down, so down in speed/ decreasing in speed...)
Levi Dickenson is the first one who invent the broom. :)
The modern broom probably was first crafted about 1820, when broomcorn or sorghum was adopted. Before recorded history, people probably picked up twigs and tied them into bundles. That is a pretty good description of today's broom! It is plastic, broomcorn, sotol or any of dozens of local plants tied into bundles and [maybe] attached to a handle.
hhh "I sweft the hall with the broom." "Witches fly on brooms!"

The name Brandon originated in the country of England. The meaning of this name is hill covered with a broom.
The push broom, as we know it today, doesn't have a single inventor but evolved over time. It is believed that variations of the broom with a wide bristle head were developed in the 19th century. One notable patent for a design resembling the modern push broom was filed by a man named John P. McGowan in 1893. However, the concept of using a wide broom for efficient sweeping has likely existed in various forms long before that.
