Sandra Murray, professor of cell Biology and physiology, the University of Pittsburgh's School of Medicine, Pittsburgh PA. In 1999, Murray became the first African-American woman to be named a full professor at the school, following her becoming the school's first tenured African-American professor in 1987. Murray studies cell-to-cell communication, which occurs through "pores" or "channels" composed of a membrane protein called connexins. Through communication cell populations can control the rate at which they grow, how they respond to the environment, such as hormones. Dr. Murray was one of the first scientist to demonstrate functional communication between cells when she demonstrated that cells from one tissue could control the cells from another tissue as a result of direct movement of molecules between the two cell types. An absolutely fantastic eloquent brilliant noble and gorgeous person, someone who will always have a place in everyones hearts and minds. What more can I say she's unbelievable http://www.bebo.com/Profile.jsp?MID=367137231&MemberId=2080562847 A Place in everyones hearts and minds?? We never heard of her.
